The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn. The ability to politely discuss patients’ financial responsibility and to resolve outstanding balances is a must. This candidate will always strive for accuracy, be detail-oriented, and have a proven track record of being a team player. Additionally, candidates must have a high level of proficiency with Windows-based computer programs and the ability to learn a medical billing system. Nextgen experience preferred.
What You Will Do:
- Post payments accurately to patients’ accounts.
- Move through large volumes of calls daily.
- Determine the reason for the patient’s outstanding balance.
- Make necessary changes to the patients’ demographics and insurance information to obtain payment from the appropriate insurance company for both primary and secondary coverages if the information in the system is inaccurate
- Make corrections as needed to the patient’s computer record so that future insurance claims and statements are accurate.
- Communicates patient information to assure confidentiality.
- Inform patient of financial responsibilities not covered by their insurance.
- Extend courtesy and politeness to all customers and exercise tact and understanding.
What You Will Bring:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience with medical billing is a PLUS!
- Customer Service Experience is a PLUS!
- Excellent time management skills to be able to handle a high volume of both incoming and outgoing calls effectively every day.
- Ability to prioritize.
- Ability to learn a medical billing system and other related automated systems. Nextgen experience preferred but training is provided.
