Under the general supervision of the VP/Accounting Manager, this position independently performs a wide variety of general or specialized accounting functions, analysis and reporting requiring the application of accounting principles and practices.

Education And/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer banking experience and some college coursework in accounting but not required.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Summary
Under the general supervision of the VP/Accounting Manager, this position independently performs a wide variety of general or specialized accounting functions, analysis and reporting requiring the application of accounting principles and practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Processes bank disbursements to vendors through Accounts Payable system, encodes and enters each invoice onto computer system; verifies and prepares checks; sends letters to vendors; performs manual check processing; checks invoices for approval.
- Researches outstanding invoices to determine whether it needs to be re-submitted or is ready for processing. If a check has been issued and mailed and not yet received, coordinates with personal bankers to decide if a “stop payment” should be placed and the check reissued.
- Responds promptly and courteously to phone and e-mail inquiries regarding the status of invoices, check requests, and employee reimbursements.
- Processes customer IRA withholdings (Fed & State) quarterly; deposits monthly and reports annually; balances monthly.
- Reconciles accounts and statements:
- Freddie Mac Accounts(as backup)
- Fixed Assets and Depreciation for fixed Assets
- Monthly internal account bank statements
- Federal Reserve Account(as backup)
- Other correspondent bank accounts
- Other General Ledger Accounts
- Monitors outstanding bank checks and logs voided checks.
- Follows up on stale dated checks.
- Maintains software and prepare reports for Fixed Assets.
- Prepares reports:
- Lawyer and real estate trust interest
- Unclaimed property for the state - Annually
- Annual Funeral Reporting
- Account Monthly Reporting
- 1099 Annual Statements
- Completes entries for Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) advances and interest payments.
- Researches questions and inquiries thoroughly in an effort to resolve or refer question for timely resolution.
- Processes daily bookkeeping for investment portfolio including monitoring maturities, purchases, and recording interest payments.
- Performs General Ledger entries for fed fund, excess reserves, agent credit cards, and Fed Reserve Bank Bi- weekly Interest.
- Prepares reports as assigned including spreadsheets.
- Maintains information and records to ensure ongoing efficiency and accuracy of facts.
- Performs general clerical support functions for the department.
- Adheres to all State and Federal Banking regulations.
