What are the responsibilities and job description for the Companion position at Visiting Nurses?
Do you like working with older individuals and helping them stay in their own homes. Is cleaning, grocery shopping, running errands and providing companionship something you would enjoy? Visiting Nurses (VNA) has the job for you! We are looking for companions to do all of these things and more to help our clients remain in their own homes and maintain their normal life and activities. This position does not require any certification and no hands on care - just the desire to help individuals remain independent.
NOTE: Actual wage to be determined based on experience with similar responsibilities.
Job duties include:
- housekeeping tasks, assuring safety and providing minimal assistance in activities of daily living
- patient/client care; read or write letters, play games or cards, engage in conversation, provide emotional support
- stand-by assistance with physical activities; accompany patient/client shopping, to medical appointments or on errands
- light household tasks such as planning and preparing meals, laundry, making bed, washing dishes, dusting, vacuuming and shopping
- transport patient/client to appointments
Visiting Nurses requires a criminal background check and motor vehicle (MVR) check for all employees once a conditional offer of employment has been extended by the hiring manager. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required for all positions. Mileage paid in addition to wage.
