What are the responsibilities and job description for the OT/PT Aide position at Vista Autism Services?
SUMMARY
The Occupational and Physical Therapy (“OT/PT”) Department Aide is responsible for providing supportive services to assist clinicians within the OT/PT department in their daily duties to increase the overall productivity and successes of The Vista School’s OT/PT services for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This position serves as a member of the OT/PT department and is responsible for nonclinical related tasks.
This position will not serve as the primary service provider of OT or PT services and is not certified by a nationally recognized accrediting body or regulated by state government to practice as an OT/PT clinician.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Client Related Tasks
Extend or supplement the services provided by OT/PT practitioners when provided with appropriate on-the-job training and ongoing supervision as dictated by the nature of the task.
Effectively communicate amongst OT/PT supervisor and supervising clinicians to relay pertinent information pertaining to client and non-client related tasks to the necessary parties.
Non-Client Related Tasks
Complete clerical and maintenance activities, including preparation of the work area or equipment, to prepare for OT/PT interventions.
Maintain regular/daily communication with classroom teams to assist in schedule formulation.
Assist in enhancing and maintaining group spaces within The Vista School campus (i.e., adapted bikes, gym equipment, pool activities, shared pre-vocational tasks, etc.)
Complete other duties as assigned.
Pay Rate- $21/HR
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following positions or frequent movements are typical of the job: sitting, walking, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, and crawling, often for extended periods of the workday. Assignment may require the ability to physically move students during possible physical interventions in order to maintain a safe learning environment.
The position requires that an individual be able to learn new tasks quickly and effectively. Job requirements may change frequently. The ability to understand and carry out detailed, involved, instructions is mandatory. The incumbent must be able to travel to multiple locations as needed, when needed to conduct organizational business. Subject to inside environmental conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School degree
- Satisfactory completion of Safe and Positive Approaches (“SAPA”) Training required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Desire to work towards a career in a Related Services/Rehabilitative Therapy field (i.e., Vista career pathway towards OT/PT/SLP position)
- Experience working with individuals with autism using principles of Applied Behavior Analysis highly desired.
- Demonstrates strong leadership abilities and organizational skills.
- Effectively manages multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.
- Problem solves in a positive manner to analyze issues and create action plans.
