What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caption Quality Assurance Analyst position at Vitac?
The Caption Quality Assurance Analyst will be a detail-oriented, proactive individual who consistently produces highly accurate and detailed written feedback on captions the Analyst has reviewed. The Analyst must work well with others, remain organized, and take significant individual initiative and responsibility. The Analyst must be able to follow established standard operating procedures, learn and work in proprietary software, and adhere to deadlines.
This position will work a Monday - Friday, 10AM - 6PM shift and will be offered a full benefit package including Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Short and Long term disability, AD&D Insurance, and an employer-matching 401k.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proofread and provide feedback on closed captioning files and transcripts using advanced knowledge of English language, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
- Listen to program audio to compare sound to caption text, indicating all discrepancies;
- Follow established procedures and rules for applying feedback within documents and proprietary software;
- Conduct research to confirm spellings for terminology and proper names when necessary;
- Review and apply feedback per documented style and special instructions, which can vary on a job-by-job basis;
- Collaborate with QA team to ensure deadlines are met;
- Participate in periodic calibration and training cycles to ensure feedback remains consistent among all QA team members;
- Provide results to QA team, Captioner Management and Captioners;
- Participate in meetings held on video conferencing platform or in office with department staff and managers in the Company;
- Identify and communicate quality and accuracy concerns;
- Maintain confidentiality;
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in English, Communications, or Journalism
- Expert-level English spelling, punctuation, grammar and proofreading skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail
- Remain flexible, highly adaptive to change
- Must successfully pass VITAC proficiency tests that include computer use, proofreading, reviewing text against audio, and English language skills
Preferred:
- Editing/proofreading experience
- Experience in a Quality Assurance role
