PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for performing all duties related to the efficient, safe, and compliant collection of blood and blood products. The position works collaboratively as a member of the team and in alignment with the values of the organization. The duties include performing interviews and whole blood phlebotomy, working collaboratively as a member of the team and in alignment with the values of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.
Assures quality customer service to all customers.
Maintains good attendance and punctuality per the absence policy.
Maintains awareness and follows all safety procedures, as outlined by the company.
Performs all duties related to the collection and handling of blood and blood products (e.g. load, set-up, tear down, and daily quality control). Packs blood products for temporary storage and transportation to processing location.
Performs donor interviews and appropriately determines donation eligibility and performs donor rebooking activities.
Performs whole blood phlebotomy of donors in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
Provides an explanation to donors concerning deferral and other questions the donor may have regarding eligibility. Consults with management, as necessary.
Communicates all pertinent information effectively and timely. Brings issues to the attention of those in authority or leadership positions, as necessary.
Works as part of a team to achieve daily team production goal. Assists and supports other team members, as required. Participates in required staff meetings and huddles.
Maintains and ensures equipment, vehicles, and facilities are in good working order. Maintains a clean and organized work area and ensures records are accurate and complete. Drives the company vehicle, as needed.
Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Education
High School graduate or GED required.
Licenses/Certifications
Valid in-state driver's license preferred.
Experience
Minimum six months work experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities
Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Basic working knowledge of Windows operating system, keyboard usage and PC.
Must be able to read and comprehend written procedures and instructions.
Must be able to work flexible shifts, varied schedules, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Must have good customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active team member.
Ability to travel, as required.
Must be trained and knowledgeable in using and maintaining equipment associated with the collection of whole blood components.
