What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker position at Vitale?
We are looking for a Baker to prepare a variety of French macarons, scones and pastries. Baker responsibilities include opening the bakery early in the morning, mixing dough, preparing fillings and finishing pastries. To be successful in this role, you should have work experience as a Baker and be able to create a consistent product. Ultimately, you will make sure we offer fresh and delicious goods to our customers on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Open the bakery early in the morning
- Clean kitchen and equipment as you go
- Weigh almond flour and other ingredients to prepare macarons
- Cook sugar syrup to prepare Italian style buttercreams
- Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
- Mix various ingredients to create fillings for macarons (e.g. chocolate ganache, buttercream, lemon curd, etc.)
- Pipe batter consistently and accurately to form macarons
- Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries, including croissants, scones and biscotti
- Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers (e.g. seasonal flavors)
- Track food supplies and place orders, as needed
Skills
- Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
- Consistency and accuracy
- Comfortable with repetition
- Understanding of food safety practices
- Experience with meringues and buttercreams
- Excellent time-management skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
- Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
- Certification from a culinary school is a plus
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
