Accountant II

Job Summary: 

This role will be responsible for accounting and consolidation activities including margin, expenses, and balance sheet. This role will be heavily involved in the financial and operational reporting as well as be charged with setting standardized processes and procedures for several initiatives. 

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for financial reporting in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, IFRS, and the company’s standard practices and policies
• Analyze financials and operating reports for completeness; make succinct and timely recommendations for P&L improvement
• Identify opportunities for improvement and automation, while taking action to remediate
• Responsible to meet all deadlines for estimates, period end financial reporting, and statutory reporting among others
• Serve as a liaison between finance and trading operations
• Ensure consistent compliance with internal controls, corporate accounting standards, GAAP and IFRS
• Ability to perform job duties with little management oversight
• Prepare ad-hoc reporting and participate in special projects on an as-needed basis
• Communicate with co-workers, management, and company personnel in a courteous, timely and professional manner
• Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

• Ability to work and interact well with others
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 2-5 years of experience in a finance-related field required
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time
• Experience in commodity trading/merchandising industry a plus
• Must be able to work proficiently with Microsoft Office applications

Special Demands:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time
• Position requires operation of a computer and other standard office equipment, such as a copy machine, calculator, computer printer up to 90% of the time
• Frequently communicates with employees in the office and at remote locations
