Vocational Direct Support Professional

Come join our team of Direct Support Professionals! Vodec is adding to its team in order to provide supported employment services to our consumers. Vodec is a non-profit organization committed to providing services for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

• Location: Council Bluffs, IA
• Shift: Primarily Monday-Friday days hours with some evening and weekend hours as needed on a rotating basis
• Status: Full-time position
• ·Wage: $16.75 per hour
• · Bonus: $1,000 Hiring Bonus

We are currently seeking Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff to assume the duties in our supported employment program. The position will work as part of a team that assists consumers in their efforts to become job ready and find quality employment. Our Supported Employment Specialist staff are responsible for supporting participants in all aspects of pre-employment and employment programming and success.

You will:

• Assess a person’s job duties and develop training programs based on the job’s objectives
• Assist with job-seeking skills such as application, interview, etc.
• Refer qualified consumers to employer or employment service for placement
• Provide training and support while the person is on the job and balance a caseload with multiple job sites (retail, grocery stores, etc.)
• Build relationships with both the person in service and the employers acting as a liaison when necessary
• Learn job skills used as training opportunities and teach those skills to clients
• Learn and teach appropriate policies and procedures of employers to clients placed with those employers
• Attend IPP Individual Support Plan (ISP) and/or Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings as required
• Keep detailed notes of objectives and person’s progress

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 19 years of age
• Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience, preferably in human services, sociology, psychology, education, human resources, marketing, sales or business
• Valid driver’s license
• Reliable personal transportation for job performance as may be occasionally required and having that personal transportation insured. Proof of insurance must be submitted and maintained
• Able to pass a background check
• Satisfactory driving record (no more than three moving violations within the most recent 36-month period)
