What are the responsibilities and job description for the CADD Technician position at Volkert Inc?

We are currently searching for a CADD Technician to support our Southwest region in Utah.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide assistance to engineers using MicroStation to create bridge detail plans and perform minor design work on bridge projects
- Provide assistance to engineers using MicroStation/Autocad Civil 3D to create roadway plan sets and perform minor design work on roadway projects
- Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans
- Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects
- Work with engineers to develop 3D models using both Open Road Designer and Open Bridge Designer
- Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance
- Research design options and documents findings
- Coordinates assignments with project team and supervisor
- Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Be a team player and assist other groups as needed
What you need to have:
- Associate degree from a technical or four-year school
- 3-15 years of prior experience with structural and/or roadway drafting
- Under 3 years experience will be evaluated if applicant has a degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field
- Degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field is preferred
- Familiar with GEOPAK or other geometry software
- Familiar with DOT Bridge Detailing Manual and applicable bridge standards preferred
- Experience in Open Road Designer is preferred
- Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
