What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer: Long-Term Care Ombudsman Volunteer position at VolunteerMatch?
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program investigates complaints related to long-term care with a strong focus on resolving the concern to the consumer's satisfaction. We utilize negotiation, mediation, education, and advocacy, and serve as consumer advocates through community education, legislative actions, and public policy intervention. All individuals living in long-term care facilities have the right to be treated with dignity and respect and receive quality care. By law, residents of long-term care facilities have rights. It is the responsibility of the Long-Term Care Ombudsmen to make sure those rights are protected. Our support services are free and available to all consumers receiving long-term care at home, in a nursing facility, or an assisted living facility., Be an advocate and a voice for quality care and treatment of residents in long-term care facilities! Becoming an Ombudsman Volunteer, you will educate residents about their resident rights, advocate for quality care and treatment, and make visits to nursing homes to visit with residents on your own schedule. You will receive virtual or in-person certification training as well as opportunities for Continuing Education Credits, but most importantly you will make a difference in someone's life!
