Summary Of Position

The Material Planner is responsible to secure the suppliers deliver according to the EDI and to mitigate line impacts in case of any deviation. The Material Planner will also be responsible to work to ensure that areas or responsibility such as systems, DCN’s, forecasting and special projects are implemented on time and accurately.

Core Responsibilities

  • The Material Planner will require knowledge on their main part numbers through GEMBA walks
  • The Material Planner is responsible to investigate availability of spare parts, part substitution with engineering and support from other plants, to avoid line impact for the concerned part number(s). The material planner will support other plants on request in shortage situations
  • The Material Planner will notify the scheduling department of potential material shortages that would affect the production schedule
  • The Material Planner will inform/escalate deviations and risk for disturbances to responsible Supervisor
  • The Material Planner will escalate crisis or risk suppliers according to the escalation ladder
  • The Material Planner is responsible to act towards supplier based on information from Material Handling Production/IMC and offsite sequencing facilities in case of inventory inaccuracies
  • The Material Planner is responsible to communicate with PL Transport Operations to check ETA’s, to notify about carrier issues
  • The Material Planner will be the point of contact with the suppliers to resolve receiving discrepancies from an inventory and account payable perspective
  • Reviews excess material to determine possible dispositions through substitution, rework, scrap, return to vendor or sell to Volvo Aftermarket
  • The Material Planner will work on a daily basis with the supplier through Teams calls to secure correct SDP and to request the supplier for root cause analysis and actions when the target score of SDP is not met
  • The Material Planner will work in a pro-active mode with the suppliers by asking questions related to the logistic requirements & delivery manual. Issues can be further escalated internally when needed
  • Responsible for forecast orders, which includes maintaining special commodities forecasting and movement of orders for the DCN process.
  • The Material Planner will be responsible to answer questions from the supplier(s) and buyer (s) on EDI/forecast with support, if needed, from supervisor and/or IT
  • The Material Planner is responsible to secure correct parameters in GILM (transport time) and notify the supervisor for updates if applicable
  • The Material Planner will participate in local department meetings.
  • The Material Planner will participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • The Material Planner will provide correct information in the Emergency routine tool on request of SRM

Minimum Required Qualifications

The minimum education and experience requirements can be met through any one of the pathways described in the charts below. Please note: In order to meet the minimum requirements, each item listed within the pathway chart must be met. In the event there are no bidders and we must recruit externally, experience with similar outside systems may be substituted.

Path A: Education 4 year Degree

Path B: Education 5 years Related experience in Material Planning or Supply Chain Management
