The Role
Interested in redefining the wedding dress shopping experience? The Vow’d Buyer will direct the product strategy, development and selection to deliver an unmatched assortment of accessible, high quality dresses. You will grow and evolve the offer in response to our fast-growing business. The ideal candidate will be a strong strategic thinker with the ability to drive tactical execution. You will report to our VP of Brand & Merchandising in our Knoxville, TN office.

What You’ll Do
Assortment & Product Development
- Develop and deliver exclusive, exciting, and price-accessible assortment of wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, accessories, and gifting.
- Maintain consistent awareness of key competitors, as well as trends inside and outside of the wedding market, to identify opportunities within the business.
- Develop and nurture new and existing vendor relationships, ranging from factory-direct development to brand-name partnerships. Consistently bring new vendors to the table to keep assortment fresh.
- Effectively negotiate price, lead times, and terms in coordination with brand goals.
- Critically analyze the business constantly to provide new ideas and opportunities for growth.
Planning
- Partner with leadership to plan OTB and to identify opportunities in style count, sales goals, and inventory flow.
- Manage all incoming dollars to meet sales and margin goals.
- Manage markdown dollars and promotion strategies.
- Utilize internal tools and team members to pull reports as needed. Partner with cross-functional teams to guide brand reporting strategies and best practices.
Operations
- Own all communication and partnership with the DC and Fulfillment teams to ensure product is received, quality-assessed, and shipped out to customers and store teams effectively and efficiently. Consistently evaluate how to better these operational processes.
- Partner heavily with store teams to ensure product strategies are incorporated into regular team trainings. Empower store teams with product information required to make the sale, while also partnering with these teams directly to gather product & customer feedback.
Site Merchandising
- Own the merchandising strategy for the website, including category creation and management, new product launches, and consistent merchandising needs.
- Consistently analyze site metrics to provide insight to the business and to make recommendations for updates and changes.
- Partner with marketing team to ensure product launches are executed smoothly and efficiently, and all website and marketing messaging is consistent with product direction.
Leadership & Development
- Consistently contribute new ideas to grow the business, beyond product. Utilize awareness of competition and trends in the marketplace to bring fresh insights to the team.
- Be an advocate for Vow’d product in all settings, including to higher AS leadership and store teams. Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure product is consistently and correctly messaged to all potential customers.
- Continue to develop and encourage Assistant Buyer in learning & development, as well as mentor younger members on the team.
- Consistently evaluate processes in place for opportunities – always be willing to update and change as needed to support new goals in the business.
Qualifications:

- You have a minimum of 4-6 years of retail buying experience.
- You possess an entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think big, but act small - the ability to toggle between strategy and tactics.
- You are high energy, results-orientated with a proven track record delivering creative and profitable product solutions.
- You have a demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
- You are a team player who enjoys the collaborative process and actively seeks out opportunities to partner cross functionally.
- You have a four-year degree.
