About us

Meet the team that’s ready to help you see and change the world.

When you’re looking for a healthcare staffing agency, you want to work with a company that cares about your needs and treats you like family. And at Voyage Healthcare, that’s what we do best. We’re your unfair advantage in healthcare staffing.

Each of the staffing professionals on our team have years of experience as executives and recruiters at some of the largest firms in the U.S. But there was one common theme at every place we worked: we felt there was a better way to do healthcare staffing.

In 1999, we put our ideals into action, and started Voyage Healthcare in Omaha, Nebraska. After outgrowing our previous office (and in search of better weather), we relocated to our present-day headquarters in Orlando, Florida.

Since then, we’ve expanded the types of healthcare professionals we serve, but our goal remains the same: To help high-quality medical professionals see and change the world, by connecting them with the medical facilities that need them, and supporting our travelers with responsive, caring recruiters that ensure they have everything they need to be successful.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), located within the Janet Weis Children's Hospital is a 12 bed mixed medical and surgical intensive care unit. The PICU provides services to the critically and acutely ill patient from the neonatal period until their 22nd birthday that requires specialized nursing care due to the nature and complexity of their illness or surgery. This includes pediatric trauma patients, post-operative patients and any patient with a life-threatening or critical illness requiring invasive monitoring or support of life-sustaining therapies. The PICU cares for all pediatric/neonatal patients that undergo post cardiothoracic surgery in the immediate post-operative period until they are stable for transfer to a lower level of care. PICU also cares for the progressive care patients in the JWCH as it does not currently have a dedicated step down unit for this demographic. Many of these patients are part of our Pediatric Hospital to Home Program for children with chronic ventilation needs and often require long term stays in the PICU for education and comprehensive care needs. The scope of care for the PICU patient requires a high quality evidence based nursing care model which is comprehensive and provides for frequent monitoring and assessment of physiologic parameters through direct patient interaction and observation to meet the patient s and families individual needs. Care of the pediatric patient is a collaborative effort that is managed by the 24 hours/7 day a week in-house PICU attending physicians, residents, PICU physician assistant and/or PICU advanced nurse practitioner and Attendings of the co-managing pediatric services. The PICU is staffed soley by registered nurses (RN). All RN staff are trained and have proven yearly competency in all pediatric age specific criteria for the care of the pediatric patient, maintain basic life support (BLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) and in addition trauma certification hours assigned by the Pennsylvania Pediatric Trauma Foundation in order to maintain compliance for a Level II trauma center. Each PICU nurse completes a 6 month pediatric critical care orientation program that is a combination of on-line, didactic and hands on testing to fully exercise and evaluate critical thinking skills. Ancillary staff, such as nursing assistants (NAs) and unit desk clerks (UDCs), assists the nursing team in the care of the patient. Job Summary:Assesses plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet the needs of the patient. Promotes adaptive responses of patient and family to achieve the highest level of patient care, promote safety, and maximize patient satisfaction.
