What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Supervisor position at Wabash?
Reporting to the Operations Manager this position will supervise employees in a dual-plant environment. Plans and assigns work, enforces policies and procedures and recommends improvements in warehouse processes, material handling equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures effective Employee Relations
- Provides employee coaching and development
- Hires and makes employment status recommendations and decisions in conjunction with other members of management
- Leads a Continuous Improvement initiative focused on improvement of the Warehouse processes at the assigned plant
- Creates metrics to measure Warehouse productivity improvement opportunities and uses these metrics to address and eliminate waste
- Provides training and mentoring to employees in regard to Material Management methods and practices
- Manages departmental performance measures including visual controls, process and product audits and provides regular progress reports to manager
- Performs incident investigations, problem solving reports, maintains proper inventory levels, manages department priorities, tracks absenteeism and ensures Kronos is accurate and completed in a timely manner
- Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs and evaluating equipment needs
- Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
- Updates and maintains Safe Work Instructions
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

This job operates in a professional office environment in which presenteeism is required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. Strict adherence to Corporate and/or Plant policies, rules, and regulations in these areas is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:
- Associates Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum three (3) years of shipping/receiving/stores experience
- Knowledge of shipping/receiving practices, policies and techniques.
- Knowledge of ERP operating systems is required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others
- Experience with the following skills: Kanban, Poke Yoke, cellular manufacturing and 5S
- ISO experience is a plus
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Material Flow is a plus

Salary : $51,900 - $65,700
