Primary Responsibilities
Under general direction of the Chief Executive Officer or Administrative designee, administers the medical staff credentialing and reappointment process and assists the medical staff in supporting the organization’s mission, vision, and goals. Works collaboratively with the Chief of Staff and committee chairpersons in conducting medical staff committee functions.

Essential Duties
1. Coordinates the credentialing, reappointment, and privileging processes. Originates or collects and maintains appropriate records.
2. Assists the medical staff in the selection process for medical staff leadership.
3. Orients medical staff leadership to key policies related to their roles. Assists medical staff leadership in the development of bylaws and related policies.
4. Arranges room, food, and notices for medical staff meetings and continuing education. Maintains, posts, and distributes a medical staff newsletter and calendar.
5. Originates and maintains agendas, minutes, and post meeting correspondence for all medical staff committees.
6. Prepares credentialing reports and action items for the Hospital Board through collaboration with the Chief of Staff.
7. Composes and disseminates correspondence from the Board to the medical staff insofar as decisions related to credentialing, privileges, and special requests.
8. Develops and implements systems which allow for the flow of information to and from medical staff committees into the performance improvement structure.
9. Maintains and generates performance related data for medical staff members and functions.
10. Orients applicants to the medical staff bylaws, key policies, medical staff structure, and performance improvement process.
11. Develops annual goals and objectives for the Medical Staff Office in concert with the organization’s strategic plan, mission, vision, and goals.
12. Prepares and monitors the annual budget for the department.
13. Maintains knowledge of standards of accrediting organizations (Joint Commission, etc.) and state and federal regulatory agencies.
14. Supervises Medical Staff Coordinators and other employees as assigned.
Other Duties
1. Maintains documentation of continuing medical staff education.
2. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Skills/Knowledge:
1. Proficient computer skills to include (Windows, MS Office, medical staff databases, etc.).
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3. Knowledge of statistics, data collection, analysis and data presentation.
4. Analytical and problem solving skills required.
5. Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
6. Employment is subject to being completely vaccinated or having a WGH approved COVID-19 Vaccine Exemption prior to providing services for the facility.
Education:
1. Bachelor’s degree in business management or health care management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM) and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) preferred.
Experience:
1. Prior medical staff experience preferred, but other related experience and qualifications can be substituted. A minimum of three years supervisory experience preferred.
Working Conditions
1. Air conditioned, well lighted environment.
2. May work beyond normal working hours.
3. Interacts with other departments and personnel and outside contacts.
Equipment Use
1. Use of general office equipment.

1. Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds
