We are recruiting for a Call-in, As Scheduled.
Primary Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, performs a variety of reception and clerical duties, including patient registration, appointment scheduling, order entry functions, and typing forms. Acts as an assistant to the technologist. Considers age-related and special needs when interacting with patients. Is knowledgeable of and follows the Hospital’s Corporate Compliance practices and policies.

Essential Duties
1. Acts as department receptionist, answering and/or transferring incoming calls.
2. Schedules appointments for patients while demonstrating knowledge of time frames for appropriate exams.
3. Provides patients with information, instructions and preparations for examinations.
4. Completes reports, x-ray cardex, specialty worksheets, pregnancy forms, patient I.D. flashcard, and other clerical items.
5. Receives patient orders from nursing floors and/or physician offices and relays to technologist and/or Radiologist.
6. Distributes copies of radiological transcribed reports to physicians.
7. Complies and forwards requests for diagnostic Imaging records to the appropriate requestor.
8. Verifies charges made to Patient Accounts.
Other Duties
1. Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures and Hospital’s Legal Compliance Program.
2. Follows established safety and infection control procedures.
3. Attends required departmental meetings and in-services.
4. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
1. Employment is subject to being completely vaccinated or having a WGH approved COVID-19 Vaccine Exemption prior to providing services for the facility.
Skills/Knowledge:
1. Knowledge and proficiency in operating multiple line telephone system and personal computer including spreadsheets and word processing.
2. Appointment scheduling skills.
3. Excellent communication and organizational skills with ability to work independently.
4. Able to type 45 wpm.
5. Knowledge of patient preparation for Diagnostic Imaging procedures.
6. Knowledge of CPT procedure codes for Diagnostic Imaging procedures.
7. Ability to maintain professionalism, pleasant disposition, and high standard of telephone etiquette. Interact and work harmoniously with public, patients, employees and physicians.
8. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Education:
1. High school graduate or equivalent, with courses in business and/or office procedures or business school graduation, OR medical assistant school graduation.
2. Completion of medical terminology course.
Experience:
1. At least one (1) year front office clerical experience in physician office, medical clinic, or similar
healthcare setting with regular interaction and direct contact with patients, general public, medical staff and employees.
2. Previous crediting and patient account billing experience.
3. Previous experience with medical insurance coverage/provisions.
4. Previous experience with medical insurance reimbursement preferred.
5. Previous experience in x-ray film library activities.
Certification:
1. Current BLS certification preferred.
