What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mohs Tech / Histotechnician position at Walk-in Dermatology?
Long Island Mohs Surgery is looking for an experienced Mohs Histotechnician. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your skills in an environment where you’ll play a key role in the success of the company and where you’ll be rewarded for your contribution.
This position will initially be for a part-time/consultant at our Garden City office with the goal of transitioning to full-time. We are an experienced team dedicated to improving dermatology care and we are looking for someone with experience and a great personality to join us.
Responsibilities:
- Specimen handling, storage, preservation and identification
- Freezing tissue and cutting frozen sections with a microtome
- Staining and placing tissue on slides
- Labeling and storage of slides
- Preparation and mixing of solutions used in Mohs lab
- Use and handling of all materials and reagents
- Disposal of stains and cleaning of glass containers and petri dishes
- Maintenance and review of all equipment and materials in the lab
- Maintaining and updating OSHA and CLIA records
- Maintaining quality control logs for slide review and patient identification system
Job Qualifications:
- High School Graduate
- Histotechnician License
- New York State Department of Professions Registration Certificate
- Two years of experience in a Mohs surgical lab
