Our Team
We are a data driven, results oriented Finance team. We are focused on transforming our Food & Consumables business inclusive of our manufacturing operations and private brands merchandising by partnering with teams across the enterprise to influence decisions to deliver shareholder value while helping our customers save money and live better. We are dedicated delivering on the fundamentals while also developing and implementing strategies to help Walmart continue to grow share and transform the grocery landscape in the U.S. by leveraging our assets and strengthening our customer proposition.
Summary
The Director, Merchandise Finance – Food & Consumables position is a strategic thought-leadership role blending strong financial acumen and analytical capabilities with great communication and influencing skills. As a Finance Director, you’ll partner with cross-functional leaders across Walmart to complete strategic planning, performance analysis, assortment, channel and customer insights, event forecasting, and annual planning. Leading Robust Analytics: Break down your business into analytical building blocks and assess current and future key levers of growth, identifying new opportunities for growth and cross-business linkages
Establishing an annual and long-range plans: Analyze historical and external growth trends to develop a plan that helps drive realistic market share growth.
Overseeing Business Performance: Lead weekly / monthly / quarterly forecasting to assess performance tracking against key strategic initiatives and financial plans, identifying risks and opportunities and understanding macroeconomic and business trends
Recommending Disruptive Strategies: Lead framing, developing and managing complex, data driven, impact-oriented analysis to build out recommendation for strategic growth areas and priorities
Developing Business Cases: Drive capability assessments, synergy analysis and return analysis to support strategic partnership and investment opportunities
Delivering Measurable Results: Work cross-functionally to bring the business strategy to life through execution and delivery of meaningful and measurable financial results.
Providing Actionable Insights: Leveraging data to facilitate consensus about financial decisions across departments in the business unit
Being A Trusted Advisor: Develop strong and trusting relationships with internal teams. Serve as the go-to for analytics – working across the organization to solve issues, address pain points and implement growth initiatives.
Improving Business Processes: Develop and implement new financial models and reporting standards for recurring analysis projects
Connecting The Dots: Engaging with leaders across the company identifying synergies and leveraging a total company perspective to recommend opportunities to create value for the greater Enterprise
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and 5 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or relevant area OR 7 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related area
4 years’ experience in Analytics, Planning, Business Management, Omni-Channel Merchandising, or a related area
2 years of experience leading and completing cross-functional projects, people leadership, and decision support
Strong organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines
Strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
Detail and results-oriented with sense of urgency.
Preferred Qualifications
Retail Merchandise Finance or external CPG experience
Experience driving change in a large, complex, matrixed organization
Master of Business Administration
