Earn money while training to become a Certified Nurse Aide.  You will be hired as an employee of BCS while attending the training course and will make $14 per hour.  Once you've completed the required classroom and lab time, you may be offered a full time position working in one of our licensed healthcare facilities.    
The Nurse Aide Training course will provide the skills needed to work as a nurse aide. Upon completion of this course, students are eligible to take the  Nurse Aide Assessment Program Examination. Certification as a nurse aide allows you to gain entry-level employment in a variety of healthcare work environments including hospitals, nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, home health agencies, and rehabilitation facilities.


Education/Skills/Essential Functions while attending training:

Must be able to speak, read, and write English. 
Legible handwriting for documenting pertinent information. 
Ability to interact effectively with others. 
Must be able to attend class Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm for 4-6 weeks.   1 cumulative hour of missed class time will be allowed. Any additional time missed will render student ineligible to complete training.  
Must be able to attend clinicals the final two weeks of class rotating days for 12 hours per day.  



Essential Job Functions for certified nursing assistants: (once training is completed and state written and skills tests are passed)

  • Under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse and/or Assisted Living Manager, assists the elders with ADLs as listed below:
  • Transports elders via wheelchair, bed, or stretcher. (constantly)
  • Changes bed linens; makes beds. (constantly)
  • Delivers meals and snacks to the elders. (frequently)
  • Accompanies and participates in elder activities. (frequently)
  • Assists in maintaining clean clutter free environment. (constantly)
  • Assist resident with non-invasive grooming tasks. (frequently)
  • Assist with dining services, housekeeping, transporting residents to/from doctors’ appointments. (constantly)
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates the direct and indirect care of a designated group of residents, which includes the evaluation of the elders’ needs, consideration of State regulations, and Evaluation of the quality of services provided (constantly):
  • Teaches elder and family member as needed regarding care issues. (occasionally)
  • Develops collaborative relationship with charge nurse to provide comprehensive care. (constantly)
  • Functions as an advocate for the elders. (constantly)
  • Verbally communicates pertinent information to the nurse concerning an elder’s care. (constantly)
  • Will maintain a clean and clutter free work environment. (constantly)
  • Cleans equipment in accordance of BCS policy and procedures. (constantly)
  • Must be able to commit the time necessary from an attendance and punctuality standpoint to accomplish the above specified Essentials of Job. (constantly)

Physical Demands:

  • Must lift or move 100 lbs. or greater occasionally; 50 lbs. frequently; and 25 lbs. constantly.
  • Must walk and/or stand 90% of a 12 hour shift; walking on various surfaces.
  • Grasps, lifts, holds, moves, and positions up to 50 lbs.
  • Must push/pull up to 200 lbs. Moves beds (empty and occupied), laundry carts, food carts, and med carts.
  • Must be able to hear to respond to telephone inquiries, to communicate effectively with elders and other caregivers, and to perform general functions.
  • Prepare and read reports.
  • Must be able to reach floor level to six feet from the floor.
  • Will be able to move throughout the facility.
  • Basic computer skills (for EHR).
