Your New Role
This position is primarily responsible for helping to manage WBD’s trademark portfolio, including prosecution, disputes, and enforcement matters, in various territories working closely with internal and external counsel and internal clients.
Your Role Accountabilities
- Trademark Disputes - Review trademark watch notices, provide recommendation re: whether to pursue, open matters in trademark database, instruct foreign counsel, gather evidence to support claims, and review drafts of pleadings and other correspondence.
- Trademark Prosecution – Responsible for large volume of US and International prosecution matters. Ability to manage deadlines and communicate effectively with internal counsel and clients. Corresponds regularly with internal counsel, clients and foreign counsel on new trademark filings and routine prosecution matters. Prepare and files USPTO applications and supporting documentation for the life of a trademark including office actions and renewals.
- Docket Review – Run reports of docket and manage upcoming deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5 years of experience as trademark paralegal either with a law firm or in-house preferred.
- Media and entertainment industry experience preferred.
- BA/BS degree required
- Paralegal certificate preferred
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, communicating directly with clients and counsel
- Understanding of trademark law and prosecution protocols
- Knowledge of trademark databases, WebTMS preferred
- Foreign language skills a plus, particularly Spanish
