What are the responsibilities and job description for the Attendance Monitor position at Watauga County Schools?
Job Summary
Individual is responsible for providing services to Watauga High School and Watauga Innovation Academy by recording student attendance for both schools. Individual serves as a communication link between the schools and thome of the student(s) and can assist in answering questions regarding ttendance, local Board of Education policy, and how students and families can submit notes after a student has been absent. Individual is also responsible for keeping records of student absences, tardies, and communication between families and the school. Individual will also be responsible for performing other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties
- Serve as a liaison between the schools and home in regartd to student attendance
- Assist the school social worker in understanding students' absences and the reasons provided
- Review attendance reports daily to assess the need for school administrator/social worker involvement in a student's attendance
- Make contact with students with attendance concerns
- Communicate with the parent/guardian of students who are absent to ensure that notes can be submitted to the school
- Maintain open lines of communication with school administrators, school counselors, school social workers, parents/guardians and students
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have obtained an Associate's degree or higher
- Must have a knowledge and understanding of school attendance laws, regulations, related local Board of Education policies, and referral sources
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Must have the ability to comunicate effectively orally and in writing
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and outside agencies
