GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Wellness Nurse provides direct and indirect care to residents in a sensitive, professional, and effective manner. The Wellness Nurse performs his/her duties under the supervision of the Resident Wellness Director while adhering
to mandated nursing standards. The Wellness Nurse is responsible for maintaining compliance with all state and
federal regulations while utilizing the standards of care policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Servant Leadership directs all aspects of decision making
· Serve as the “Charge Nurse” in the absence of the Executive Director and Resident Wellness
Director
· Contributes to all aspects of medication management, including but not limited to; orders, administration, storage, documentation and as mandated by the State Regulations and Guidelines as well as Company policy and procedure
· Assures resident rooms and common areas are clean and safe at all times
· Assure that all resident care specialists are familiar with the residents’ individual conditions and are trained to provide the resident services in an effective, professional and sensitive manner
· Assist the residents with their self-medication or administration of medications
· Responsible for limited nursing license daily recommendations and documentation (if applicable)
· Implements plans of care recommended by the Resident Wellness Director
· Implements change in condition plans
· Provides accurate and timely documentation of all care provided to residents
· Assembles and maintains resident charting and accurately maintains all records
· Completes accident and incident reports as required
· Maintains relationships with residents, family members and responsible parties
· Be prepared for and manage emergency situations including disasters, fire and other emergencies
· Ensures adequate and appropriately trained resident care specialists are available for each shift within company and state guidelines
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, vendors, referral sources and outside contacts
· Able to make independent decisions
· Must be able to communicate in a warm, friendly and caring manner
· Must be familiar with and adhere to guidelines related to the Fair Housing Act (FHA) and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
· Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens
· Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
· LPN or RN license (LPN preferred)
EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES:
· Two (2) years in the senior living environment preferred
· Strong leadership skills with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in supervising and management preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
· Able to stand or walk 75% of the day
· Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions
· Able to work under stress and in emergency situations
· Able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping
· Able to talk and hear effectively in order to convey instructions and information to residents and team members
· Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE / PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
· Work in all areas of the community
· Subject to reactions from dust, disinfectants and cleaning chemicals and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases and other conditions
· Use personal protective equipment and supplies when needed to prevent burns, falls, and infection
· Personal protective equipment includes infection control kit, rubber gloves and non-slip shoes
· Subject to infectious diseases, substances and odors
· Follow Safety Policy & Procedures
2 Full Time Shifts available: (1) 3pm to 11pm and (1) 11pm to 7am, includes rotating weekends.
