Waukesha County Department of Health and Human Services is recruiting for a talented Senior Clinical Psychologist - LTE. This position will work two days per week routinely and could pick-up additional shifts for vacation/leave coverage as needed.

This work assignment will function in the outpatient unit of the Clinical Services Division, located in the new Human Services Center and at the Mental Health Center.

Waukesha County is a recognized leader in providing cutting-edge, evidenced-based assessment and intervention of co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, with a variety of long-term grants in place to sustain nationally-recognized opioid use prevention and treatment programs. We are seeking a talented clinical psychologist who can further these critical efforts through assessment and treatment of clients, and supervision of dually-certified, master's-prepared substance use and mental health staff.

Our senior clinical psychologists also provide psychological evaluations for a variety of referral sources, provide consultation to other HHS divisions, and are involved in a variety of initiatives to improve the lives of Waukesha County residents. Applicants demonstrating broad experience in assessment and treatment across all age groups and a variety of diagnostic categories, including substance use disorders and supervision of dually-certified providers, are particularly encouraged to apply.

Example of Duties

  1. Provides clinical supervision of dually-certified master's-prepared staff and consultation to multi-disciplinary department colleagues.
  2. Administers and interprets a variety of psychological tests to clients who are referred by a variety of referral sources to determine their general psychological status or to answer a specific referral question.
  3. Interprets and prepares detailed reports of psychological findings, including test results, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations for treatment.
  4. Provides psychotherapeutic services to individuals and groups treating substance use and mental disorders.
  5. Conducts mandated client staffing meetings and review of cases assigned to dually-certified clinical staff.
  6. Provides consultation and education to departmental staff; as well as to community agencies, organizations, schools and courts.
  7. Contributes clinical input for planning and evaluation efforts in the development of departmental programs.
  8. Provides court-related clinical duties such as consultations, clinical interviews, evaluations, and occasional testimony. Court referrals are not forensic in nature and recommendations are non-binding.
  9. Completes documentation for billing of services and maintains mandated clinical documentation in an electronic health record and paper records.
  10. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with clients, families, staff, other professionals, agencies, and the general public.
  11. Performs emergency government duties as assigned in the event of Waukesha County Emergency government declaration.
  12. Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Knowledge and Abilities
  1. Thorough knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of clinical psychology, including psychological assessment.
  2. Thorough knowledge of psychopathology, substance use and mental health principles, and techniques of psychotherapy.
  3. Considerable knowledge of human service organizations, substance use and mental health levels of care, and other community resources.
  4. Considerable knowledge of applicable Wisconsin State Statutes.
  5. Considerable knowledge of applicable codes, rules and regulations.
  6. Considerable knowledge of psychotropic medications used in the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders.
  7. Considerable knowledge of confidentiality statutes and requirements, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 and subsequent revisions/additions.
  8. Working knowledge of computerized department program software, internet access, and database, spreadsheet and word processing programs.
  9. Ability to utilize an electronic health record.
  10. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  11. Ability to develop substance use and mental health treatment plans and to evaluate effectiveness of those plans.
  12. Ability to respond appropriately to mental health emergency situations and utilize crisis intervention techniques and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications

Senior Clinical Psychologist minimum Training and Experience requirements:

  1. Graduation from a recognized college or university with a doctoral degree in psychology or possession of a doctoral degree equivalency as determined by the psychology Examining Board of the Department of Regulation and Licensing.
  2. Possession of or current eligibility for a license to practice psychology in the State of Wisconsin.
  3. Listing or eligibility for listing in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology is desirable.

Waukesha County has a population of 390,000 and is located in the southeast corner of Wisconsin, next to the Milwaukee metropolitan area, two hours northwest of Chicago, 30 minutes from downtown Milwaukee, and approximately one hour from Madison.
