What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Manager position at Wayland Public Schools?
The Human Resources Manager facilitates the primary human resource responsibilities and activities for all district employees. This includes managing the employee hiring process, managing employee records, communicating benefits plans, policies and procedures, or applicable laws as related to benefits for school employees, managing and reviewing employee licensure information, managing the employee leave-of-absence process, representing the district in local and regional human resource associations, and supporting the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent with individual personnel-related projects.Employee Hiring Process-Develop and revise job descriptions;-Post positions;-Review and process hiring paperwork and recommend initial lane/step placement;-Check candidate licensure;-Generate contracts; -On-board new staff and support new employee orientation.Managing Employee Records-Serve as the primary custodian of all regular and confidential personnel records; -Maintain accurate staffing information in eSchoolPLUS and MUNIS; -Review employee mandated training completion; -Support the preparation of district and state employee reports (e.g., Staff Deployment Report);-Support the development and storing of employee disciplinary notifications; -Develop RIF and termination letters under the direction of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.Managing the Employee Leave-of-Absence Process-Stay up-to-date on laws and regulations around leaves of absence; -Review and evaluate requests; -Prepare leave-of-absence paperwork; -Ensure consistency in personnel approaches and decisions for leaves-of-absence.Managing Tables (salary and accrual) applicable to school employees-Collaborate with School Payroll to: -Maintain salary tables as per the current contract; WTA, WSA, SCUS, SCAF-Update salaries for NON Union Employees as per agreed/approved by school committee;-Maintain accrual tables; available time such as vacation, sick and personal days; as per current contracts. Benefits: -Collaborate with appropriate staff to: -Communicate with school employees regarding available benefits, policies and procedures; -Process applications for enrollments and terminations;-Ensure that School Payroll and Town Benefits have the necessary paperwork. Managing and Reviewing Employee Licensure Information-Support the creation and maintenance of the master licensure database; -Stay current in knowledge of licensure regulations-Support licensure action (e.g., waiver requests).Additional Responsibilities-Represent the district in local and regional human resource associations;-Support the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent with individual personnel-related projects;-Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.Terms of Employment: 1.Salary and benefits commensurate with experience; 2.This is a 12-month, non-union position, Other conditions and benefits as negotiated in accordance with School Committee policies for administrators; this is a benefits-eligible position
