Activity Coordinator
Job summary:
The Activity Coordinator must direct activities and encourage client participation in activities that appeal to their interests and preferences and in accordance with Adult Day program expectations. The employee is responsible for ensuring that client transportation to and from the center and meal pick-ups proceed as scheduled. The Activity Coordinator will assist in cleaning the facility, help Activity Assistants in following programming, assist with obtaining signatures and maintaining updated documentation, and assign staff to activities as needed to maintain supervision and programming requirements. The Activity Coordinator must collaborate with the Compliance Manager in planning and following client activity schedules and help maintain a fun, healthy and safe environment. Must be able to attend required trainings and staff meetings. This position will begin as part-time while training and will transition to full-time once schedule deems it.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Help organize and lead educational and recreational activities for clients
- Assist Program Supervisor in completing clients’ required documentation thoroughly and in a timely manner.
- Help Activity Assistants in following daily schedule by giving reminders and assigning tasks as needed.
- Assist drivers with transportation of clients to and from the center as needed with company van.
- Ensure that meals are picked up as scheduled.
- Ensure that center is cleaned as scheduled and assist with the cleaning when needed.
- Help with supervision of clients.
- Provide information, support, and role-modeling to clients to encourage skill learning, independence, and ability to self-advocate when applicable.
- Provide services to clients in accordance with their individual care plans and abuse prevention plans
- Report incidents involving clients to supervisor and follow all safety procedures
- Following the Rules and Statues of the Minnesota Department of Human Services that govern Adult Day Services.
- Assist clients with general daily care, bathroom use, and hygiene as needed.
- Provide medication assistance to clients as needed and take vitals regularly
Skills:
Ability to Problem solve, prioritize, have good verbal and written communication, time management, organization, patience, and compassion.
Knowledge of English and Somali both written and verbal and ability to translate is helpful but not required.
Requirements:
Must be available Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm
High school diploma or equivalent
2 years of experience in providing direct care services or related experience
First Aid and CPR training OR will obtain within 30 days after hire.
Ability to pass a background study and fingerprint.
Fluent in Somali is a plus
Salary : $16 - $20
