The Information and Cyber Security (ICS) team is embarking on a multi-year initiative to improve Wells Fargo’s resiliency to the tactics, and techniques used by today’s most advanced adversaries. The person selected for this position will be part of the Cyber Threat Engineering Team (CTE) within the Cyber Threat Management (CTM) organization within Information Security (IS) as an Information Security Manager (ISM). This position will manage a technical team that evaluates security controls and their effectiveness using a variety of tools and automation. The team will enhance CTM’s threat intelligence and assessment capabilities by delivering structured and normalized data describing the effectiveness of the banks security controls throughout the entire network.
This position works with and influences information security and technology leaders, along with line of business management to identify, formulate, and implement information security solutions and controls that manage threats and mitigates risk. The ISM will manage a team responsible for complex and innovative solutions addressing functions including: infrastructure management, continuous breach and attack simulation platform, security control effectiveness testing to include network and endpoints to ensure the security of the networks, computers, and confidential data.
The role will maintain an advanced awareness of bank security policies and government regulations pertaining to information security as needed for systems/applications/tools. Exercises the usual authority of a manager including budgeting and staff management. ISM will perform reviews, manage resources, expenses, and help translate the requirements into work needed to be done by the Security Controls Effectiveness team.
The ideal candidate will use knowledge of engineering and security controls to help design and execute automated, continuous tests against network and endpoint security controls, technology solutions, configurations, and rules that provide continuous high fidelity information and automated threat assessments. This information will also provide insight to the threat modeling program while using the Security Control Application Framework. Responsible for work flow, reporting, system quality assurance and consistency with installation, security policy and standards. Additionally, will partner with CTE infrastructure and content development teams to ensure effective processes to promote content and configurations to our UAT and Production platforms.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead efforts to evaluate and sustain Security Control Effectiveness Testing applications and tools
- Aggregate and integrate data delivery solutions from tools for the CTI Threat Register
- Consult and plan with leadership to assess and prioritize new projects and develop strategies to execute new initiatives, while maintaining existing tools portfolio
- Lead interaction with multi-disciplinary teams with direct and matrixed responsibilities to design and develop cyber security strategies that align with the corporation’s goals
- Manage and maintain workflow and set priorities for engineering direct reports aligned to supported control groups
- Build and maintain partnerships with the users of Cyber Threat Engineering tools aligned to this position.
- The position will interact and negotiate with middle and/or senior management on a regular basis; create and implement communication plans including presentations on program goals and plans, including progress reports; and may be called upon to manage other projects and initiatives as needed.
