About this role:
Wells Fargo's Chief Technology Office is hiring a Principal Java Engineer to join the Technology & Application Architecture Team within Enterprise Architecture.
As part of the Chief Technology Office (CTO) and Enterprise Architecture, the Technology & Application Architecture Team is responsible for thought leadership, technology standards, and driving technology modernization and enablement throughout the enterprise spanning Digital Technology, Emerging Tech/Innovation, Cloud Platforms & Services, CI/CD, AI/ML, and API Architecture.
As a Principal Java Engineer and passionate technologist, you will define the strategy and solutions to guide engineers in building innovative engineering accelerators and libraries to enable development and cloud adoption across the firm. You will provide subject matter expertise, technology guidance, road maps, principles, standards, and best practices to support Group CIOs in managing their technology domains and meeting customer expectations. As a key member of the team, your work will include designing and defining Modern Application frameworks and patterns.

In this role, you will:
- Act as an advisor to leadership to influence adoption of modern engineering solutions, accelerators and practices to help address the complex needs of an enterprise application modernization and cloud adoption
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
- Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
- Collaborate with engineering and architecture to define the technology strategy; then take it to full execution
- Collaborate with engineering to design, develop, and deliver Core Frameworks that will be reused across Enterprise
- Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
- Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
- Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
- Collaborate with vendor partners and Cloud Service Providers to effectively utilize the skills to help modernize applications
- 7 years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 7 years of Java experience
- 3 years of experience in microservices development
- 3 years of experience with Cloud technologies
- 5 years of experience with UI technologies/frameworks such as: React JS with Redux, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
- Design consultation experience at the highest technical level: strategic planning, integration, implementation, scalability, and problem definition
- Experience with containers, container orchestration, API Gateways and integration frameworks (Workflow and Orchestration/Choreography)
- Experience integrating and securing private and public cloud environments such as Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)/Tanzu, etc.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, synchronous/asynchronous messaging, and networking protocols
- Knowledge and understanding of DevOps principles
- Secure SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) methodologies experience
- Agile experience
- Experience communicating and presenting complex information in a manner that persuades, educates, and enhances understanding at all levels
