Job Description:
Provides care, assessment prior, during and post-procedural instruction to patients. Prepares and maintains all pertinent information related to procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients.
- Obtains nursing histories, assesses patient’s conditions, and develops individual care plans for patients.
- Acts as a patient educator, explains procedure and answers questions prior to procedure.
- Cleans and prepares patient bay areas between patients, along with monitoring, and restocking supplies.
- Prepares patient for procedure.
- Assist and performs nursing function within electrophysiology and invasive cardiac procedures in the Cardiac Cath and EP Lab.
- Maintains aseptic technique; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic techniques.
- Perform patient care related activities such as starting IVs and shaving groin areas.
- Provides care for patients prior, during and after procedures by administering moderate sedation, monitoring hemodynamic status, observing for continued hemostasis and procedural complications.
- Provides health care instructions/education along with discharge teaching to patient and family members.
- Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.
- Prepares and maintains patient records with appropriate documentation.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Associate's Degree
Pref Education BSN
Minimum Experience 1-2 years
Pref Experience Experience in Cath Lab, critical care, or telemetry
Min Field Of Expertise Cardiology; EKG and physiologic monitoring; Knowledge of cardiology, electrophysiology, pacemakers, peripheral vascular procedures and related equipment; Fluent in medical terminology
Req Cert/Registration Registration and current RN license in PA; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Salary : $17 - $245
