What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse position at WEP Clinical?
We are looking for nurses with high quality clinical skills and an engaging personality to provide exceptional care to research study patients in their area. The Clinical Trial Home Research Nurse will work under the guidance of the principal study investigator, with support from WEP Clinical nursing management. The CT Home Research Nurse is responsible for accurate completion of visit procedures and collection of information from study patients according to study protocols. This is a contract, hourly position, on an “as-needed basis”.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to research study patients, most often in the patient home.
- Ensure compliance with each study’s protocol by providing thorough review and documentation at each subject study visit.
- Administer investigational medications/products as needed; Perform patient assessments to determine presence of side effects; notify Principal Investigator of findings/issues.
- Perform medical tests, including, but not limited to, vital signs, specimen collection and electrocardiograms; Process specimens or prepare and ship specimens per protocol.
- Carry out all care in line with study protocols, local policies and procedures, GCP regulations.
- Responsible for adherence to clinical research policies to ensure ethical conduct and protect vulnerable populations.
- Hold active nursing licensure.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited BSN or Associates Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program
- 2 years clinical nursing experience—Our studies require a variety of clinical skills (some desirable and not all essential, depending on project requirements) such as phlebotomy skills and handling, processing of blood, sub cutaneous injections, ECGs, observations and taking specimen collections, cannulation and administration of intravenous therapies, experience working with central venous access
- BLS certification required
- Experience and knowledge of working in clinical research trials with ICH-GCP (Good Clinical Practice) Certification - (Training can be completed upon hire)
- Ability to work autonomously
- Ability to utilize computers and a working knowledge of computer software
- A flexible schedule is essential
- Unencumbered driver’s license, working vehicle
