Overview
Purpose of the Job:
- This is a high visibility position with significant impact on the entire organization that requires high energy and an advanced level of both technical and interpersonal skills.
- Primary responsibilities are to plan, direct, and control the scheduling of materials to maximize customer deliveries, plant productivity and inventory turns.
- The materials manager will be involved in both tactical and strategic decisions to drive immediate and long term results by:
- Setting effective materials policies internally and across the supply chain using best practices.
- Building a high performance team 3. Implementation of appropriate technology
- Developing productive relationships with peers inside the company.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions):
- Acts as Sales and Operation Planning process leader. Develop and execute division material and inventory control strategies in active support of division sales, manufacturing and asset management goals.
- Oversees development and maintenance of Master Production Schedule. Directs the generation of daily shop floor schedules that balance Master Schedule attainment with production capacity constraints and manufacturing efficiencies.
- Coordinates direct material planning and releases in support of manufacturing schedules. Oversees finished goods planning for purchased goods in support of sales forecast. Establishes corporate inventory targets and ensures target attainment.
- Coordinates audits and ensures Item Master accuracy.
- Oversees inbound and outbound logistics activities, ensuring optimum customer delivery satisfaction while managing freight expense.
- Coordinates physical inventory as scheduled. Directs company cycle count program, ensuring integrity of raw, work in process, component and finished goods inventories.
- Coordinates implementations of ECO's. Sustain inventory data integrity through execution of timely and accurate inventory transactions. Schedule and allocate team resources.
- Ensure full team support for ongoing continuous improvement initiatives. Contribute to the development and attainment of company strategic and business plans as well as participate in various planning and reporting meetings.
- Develop and maintain active succession planning, cross-training and organizational development actions spanning all team positions. Support development and delivery of division communication plans.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships within the Operations team.
- Set personal goals and objectives to stay abreast of and apply world class manufacturing practices and technology.
- All other duties as directed by supervisor
Qualifications
Experience & Education:
- BS degree.
- Must have a broad based knowledge of production and inventory control theory and a working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
- APICS CPIM certification
- 5 years minimum experience in a materials, production planning, inventory/production control setting required.
