What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrician position at West Fraser?

West Fraser Timber Co Ltd. is an integrated forest products company producing lumber, wood chips, fiberboard, plywood, pulp, and newsprint. West Fraser, Inc. is the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary in the United States.  The business has 15 lumber producing locations throughout the U.S. South.

The position is located at the Maplesville, AL mill. The Electrical Technician will report to the Electrical Supervisor.

What you will do:

  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment using programmable logic controllers

  • Identify and troubleshoot objects using electrical control schematics

  • Install variable frequency drives, diagnose hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Maintain and troubleshoot various optimization systems

    What you will need to be successful:

  • Lock-out Procedures

  • Field Level Hazard Risk Assessments (FLHRA)

  • Electrical circuitry and components, including circuit breakers, motors and controllers, control devices, motor theory, rigging, precision alignments

  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics

  • Predictive and preventative maintenance

  • Computer and PLC skills

  • Able to use hand and power tools and to understand proper use, including multi-meters, knowledge of 480 volt 3 Phase AC
