Biological Field Technician

Key Details:

• Compensation: $18– $20/ hour, DOE
• Start Date: August 20, 2023
• End Date: September 30, 2023
• Location: Near Hillsdale, Michigan
• Additional details: Travel to site will be paid.  Truck, trailer, and tractor provided on site for job.

Job Summary:

• The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct survey plot maintenance using a small utility tractor, with a brush hog/pto. Successful candidates must be able to work in a rural field setting, and work well both independently and with others. Previous experience with tractors or farm work is preferred. An average workweek will be approximately 25-35 hours, though there may be weeks requiring shorter or longer hours depending on weather and vegetation growth.

Responsibilities include:

• Candidates with field experience at regional wind projects will be given preference
• Experience with farmwork, landscaping, tractors will be prioritized.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team, and interact positively with project manager, field supervisor, landowners, and other technicians
• Follow all WEST safety protocols

Physical Requirements:

• Applicants must be in good physical condition; mowing will require working shifts in locations where temperatures and conditions can be extreme
• Technicians must be equipped with and provide own suitable safety toed footwear (steel or composite-toe), and clothing suitable for outdoor work in all elements

After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre- employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check that meets WEST’s minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company.  A valid driver’s license will be required.
