Tenure Track Faculty Position for Biostatistics

The West Virginia University (WVU) School of Public Health seeks a tenure-eligible faculty member to join the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics as an Assistant Professor. This is a unique opportunity to pursue innovative teaching and research in a growing, collaborative department with 14 full-time faculty, within the CEPH-accredited WVU School of Public Health, and set within the greater WVU's Health Sciences Center. The department is uniquely co-located with WVU Medicine's flagship hospital, a regional office of CDC/NIOSH, and the local county health department. This faculty member will contribute to our growing MS in Biostatistics and a graduate certificate in Applied Biostatistics programs. The incoming faculty member will also be expected to mentor or co-mentor graduate students pursuing a PhD in Epidemiology, an MPH with a concentration in Applied Epidemiology and Biostatistics, an MS in Population Health, and the school's undergraduate Public Health major. Our diverse faculty actively collaborate to pursue research and service with many groups in West Virginia along with other national and international scholars. Current WV collaborators include the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute (WVCTSI), the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, the Heart and Vascular Institute, the WV Prevention Research Center, the WVU School of Medicine, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the WV Perinatal Partnership, and various offices within WV Department of Health and Human Resources.

Position Description:

We invite applicants with research and teaching interests in Biostatistics. Expertise and/or experience in issues pertaining to rural or underserved populations are especially desirable, but not required. Current faculty have diverse applied interests for collaboration including substance use, injury prevention, rural disparities, pharmacoepidemiology, occupational health, mental health, infectious disease, cardiovascular disease, clinical trials, spatial epidemiology, maternal-fetal and women's health, behavioral interventions, and exercise and physical activity epidemiology. Faculty also have research interests in statistical methodology including longitudinal data analysis, systematic reviews, meta-analysis, clinical trials, missing data, psychometrics, structural equation modeling, and Bayesian methods. Applicants are required to develop and maintain an extramurally-funded research agenda, teach courses in the graduate and undergraduate programs, and participate in departmental service. The ideal candidate would teach and mentor students across the Department's two core disciplines - epidemiology and biostatistics.

Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related discipline
  • Teaching experience, post-doctoral training, and experience writing and collaborating on extramural grants
  • Curriculum vitae
