Westat is seeking a passionate UX/UI designer with experience in designing responsive and mobile adaptive websites and applications. An expert who can design new visual identities through user-centric problem-solving for digital experiences with a wow factor. Encompassing user experience, interaction design, and in-depth branding knowledge. Candidate will work in an exciting, collaborative environment in the Interaction Design Studio (IxD) and project teams to design top-notch, innovative digital solutions. Candidate must be excellent at client communications, presenting work and with a design strategy in a clear, concise, and inspiring manner. Must be able to confidently guide discussions and articulate UX decisions with clients and project teams.
Job Responsibilities:
- Generate innovative, effective, and engaging creative visual solutions for web and mobile products using Figma and the Adobe Creative suite.
- Work collaboratively with the IxD team to ensure proposed design concepts align with project goals and client needs.
- Collaborate and ideate with project teams to produce effective solutions for various types of products.
- Create best in class and visually impactful UI components and style guides.
- Create digital brands and incorporate custom illustration as needed.
- Work multiple projects concurrently and shift priorities as required to meet business requirements and deadline.
- Participate in the discovery process through ideation sessions with project teams and clients.
- Present work to clients and participate in meetings.
Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of professional experience in UX and UI design.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A comprehensive portfolio, demonstrating visually stunning UI through UX process and methodology.
- Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of UI and UX modern methodologies.
- Be able to design/refresh full website experiences from concept to launch.
- Collaborate with developers on specs, functionality, package files, and QA.
- Effective in tackling complex feedback from clients and project teams.
- Provide smart and strategic solutions for data visualizations and informational products.
- Articulate design strategy with clarity and facilitate discussions internally and externally.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively and outstanding attention to detail.
- Expert knowledge of web design principles and latest best practices.
- Very familiar with HTML and CSS with solid experience in responsive and mobile design.
- Ability to create fresh, new, and modern designs, progress established trends, and innovate.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expert knowledge of UX/UI trends and latest best practices.
- Ability to create captivating digital branding systems and logos.
- Strong communication skills to effectively present design solutions internally and to clients.
- Strong portfolio of web examples.
- Use of AA 508 compliance and accessibility best practices.
- Fluency in design best practices across all web platforms (mobile, tablet, desktop).
