Weston & Sampson is seeking a motivated environmental field engineer with 0-3 years of experience to perform environmental assessment, engineering design, and construction support tasks for environmental projects in Connecticut. The candidate will be based out of our Rocky Hill, CT office and be willing to provide field engineering oversight on environmental and renewable energy projects. Our established Environmental Practice comprised of Professional Engineers (PEs) and Licensed Environmental Professionals (LEPs) seeks thoughtful and innovative individuals who want to make a difference enhancing, protecting, and sustaining the natural and built environment to improve the quality of life.

 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Assist with diverse, fast-paced assessment projects for municipal, state agency and private clients;
  • Visit sites to perform project tasks including soil, groundwater and other environmental media sampling, subsurface exploration observation, surveying, and construction-phase monitoring
  • Perform office-based tasks including engineering design, data tabulation, preparation of reports, and project scopes of work
  • Interface with a multidisciplinary team of engineers (civil, geotechnical, environmental, among others), scientists, geologists, architects, and landscape architects.
  • Handle tasks for multiple projects simultaneously, coordinate with other disciplines, and collaborate with project team members.

What you’ll bring:

  • AS or BS in Civil or Environmental (or equivalent) Engineering is required.
  • 0-3 years experience
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and AutoCAD considered a plus, but not mandatory 
  • Willingness to obtain internal/external training to increase software skills
  • A positive attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle a flexible workload, diverse projects, and work well with multiple staff members 
  • Willingness to travel to conduct field work (valid driver’s license is required)
