The WestRock Woodridge hiring a Continuous Improvement Manager. The Continuous Improvement Manager role is designed to coach and guide the implementation of the Operational Excellence System (OES), which is a Lean Six Sigma deployment into the WestRock organization. This role is the direct conduit between the tactical/operational and strategic initiatives in the organization. This position requires a leader that can facilitate and drive change in a fast paced and “ever changing” environment leveraging his/her strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
How you will impact WestRock
- Align with strategic objectives for the Division/Region/Plant and Execute OES to accomplish them.
- Responsible for the deployment and ongoing sustainment of operational improvement processes in the mill. Daily management (DMS), improvement projects, applying Lean principles, problem solving methods and facilitation, training, and auditing systems.
- Responsible for the training/coaching of leaders, supervisors, and operators.
- Execute improvement projects to meet mill productivity savings goals and operational performance goals.
- Focus on driving improvements in revenue and driving cost out of the business through more effective processes, elimination of non-value added or duplicate efforts, waste, and other related defects in the process.
- Perform education to supervisors, operators, project teams and steering committee.
- Train teams to utilize problem solving tools and methodology.
- Provide and share foundational best practices and align methods with Westrock standards.
- Coach and assist mill in Zero Loss Thinking and Analysis
- Identify training needs/gaps prior to and during the implementation and coordinate with Learning and Development leader.
- Be a steward of the escalation process for problems that need to be addressed.
- Coach/mentor belts, CI pillar teams, supervisors, and operators to achieve savings goals.
- Support operational performance, on-call rotation, and for outages. Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed
- 4-year degree required.
- Operational Excellence System training provided.
- Lean Six Sigma Belt certifications preferred;
- Minimum 10 years of manufacturing and/or Continuous Improvement experience
- Preferred experience in Lean Operating Systems and problem solving methods
- Coaching and communications skills
- Strong leadership abilities
- Professional maturity – work with all levels
