CAREER OPPORTUNITY

This role consists of 80 – 90% travel and must have 80% mechanical / 20% electrical knowledge/ability. Will be traveling to our client site to install packaging machinery. Please note candidate should reside in Ohio.

The Lead Field Service Technician provides technical assistance to customers in the installation and maintenance of WestRock packaging machinery. This assistance includes machine audits, planned maintenance, and other customer-requested technical services.

You will also be responsible for building rapport with customers throughout the organization and bring the knowledge from the field back to WestRock Service Management, Engineering and Sales.

How You Will Impact WestRock:

  • Provides on-site customer services including installations, preventative maintenance, and audits
  • Provides accurate and timely service, audit, installation, and expense reports
  • Provides input/feedback for continuous improvements and changes
  • Provides installation and commissioning support for new machines in customer’s facilities
  • Leads by example, safety and accountability are a fundamental responsibility of each team member.
  • Ensures safe and healthful working conditions and an organized work environment.
  • Support the Vision, Mission & Values of WestRock Safety and operational Programs.
  • Provide consistent contact and support for customers through on-site visits and ongoing communication
  • Identify the root cause of machinery issues (electric or mechanical), and develop and execute remediation plans
  • Partner with customers’ machinery operators, technicians, and production maintenance resources to ensure effective equipment operations
  • Build and maintain relationships throughout the customer organization

Responsibilities:

  • Installation and servicing of WestRock Packaging Machinery
  • Support of equipment both mechanically and electrically
  • Sell services and parts based on audits
  • Identify the root cause of machinery issues (electric or mechanical), and develop and execute remediation plans
  • Schedules are often dictated by customer requirements
  • Report to regional service manager daily
  • Conduct an exit interview with customer prior to leaving the job
  • Complete expense reports at the conclusion of each job
  • Follow WestRock and customer work/safety rules while in customer’s facility
  • Maintain a good relationship with fellow employees and customers

What You need to Succeed:

  • Technical degree is a plus, but not required
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required
  • 2 to 5 years of field service experience, or related work experience
  • Good personality for customer relations
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong mechanical abilities
  • Moderate PC skills, i.e., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft apps
  • Writes accurate and concise service and expense reports
  • Review and/or contribute to procedure and training documents
  • 80-90% travel with nonstandard workweeks hours including weekends, holidays, and night shifts
  • Passport is required
  • Ability to travel to within the USA and to Mexico, Canada, and Europe is expected
  • Ability to learn new technologies
  • Be a team player
  • Willing to follow strict safety guidelines
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical drawings/schematics is a plus, but not required
