Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Service Leader to join our team in Modesto, California.
The primary responsibilities for this position include business development, team development and operations and project management for both public and private sector transportation projects in the California market.
The Transportation Service Leader will work with the Regional Service Leader and local leaders in the Public Infrastructure and Land Development Divisions to develop and implement strategies for maximizing Westwood’s share of the California transportation market.

Our ideal candidate will have 10 years of diverse transportation engineering, design and project management experience supporting both the public and private sectors.
This position is responsible for marketing, business development, project management and sustained growth of the transportation team in California.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate service-specific education and staff development.
- Works with Division Leader, Regional Service Leader, and local leaders to develop and implement a strategic plan to advance service initiatives that supports the goals of the division.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and empowerment to transportation service staff throughout California.
- Works with Regional Service Leader, and local leaders to develop short- and long-term growth plans for the transportation service.
- Ensure company culture, policies and procedures are consistently implemented within the service group.
- Stay current on service-specific trends, technology, software, hardware and equipment. Drive value based on innovation.
- Work with Regional Service Leader, and local leaders to develop and implement standards for work products specific to the service such as design standards, reports, specifications, data files, etc.
- Responsible for service-based workload coordination across the region.
- Advise Regional Service Leader, and local leaders in hiring decisions and identify technical resource needs as it relates to the service group in the region.
- Support market-based and / or service-based business development in each office in the region by providing technical expertise and transportation revenue generation.
- Work with Regional Service Leader, and local leaders to : Develop and implement a strategic plan to advance the service in CaliforniaAdvance service initiatives within the California officesSupport the goals of the divisionProvide advice in hiring decisionsIdentify technical resource needs as it relates to the service groupsDevelop short- and long-term growth plans for the serviceDevelop and implement standards for work products specific to the service such as design standards, reports, specifications, data files, etc.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and empowerment to the office service team
- Partner with local leaders on project proposal efforts, for service-specific components
- Stay current on service-specific trends and drive value through innovation
- Implement, monitor and maintain procedures and quality standards for the service team
- Support market-based and / or service-based business development by providing technical expertise and transportation revenue generation
- Manage the design and delivery of multidisciplined projects in a profitable manner
- Supervise the work of project managers and engineers
- Develop project work plans and budget projections and effectively deploy resources
- Review, interpret and act on business metrics including utilization, backlog, WIP and AR
- Prepare, maintain and coordinate project schedules
- Develop and track milestones to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery
- Complete monthly project accounting and invoicing
- Represent Westwood and our clients in meetings with governmental agencies
- Write proposals, prepare qualification packages and lead project interviews
- Recruit, grow, mentor and train staff
- Build relationships internally and externally with clients and strategic partners
- Lead transportation business development activities
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions

Required Experience
- Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) and Professional Traffic Engineer (TE) in California
- 10 years of progressive design, management, and business development experience in transportation
- This position requires travel to project sites and other Westwood offices in California and throughout the United States
