Weyerhaeuser Company is seeking upcoming or recent college graduates for a full-time entry level Leadership Development Professional (LDP) opportunity starting spring/summer 2024 to join our Arcadia Oriented Strand Board Mill (OSB) located in Simsboro, Louisiana.
Arcadia OSB is located in the Sportsman's Paradise of Lincoln Parish in north central Louisiana. It is situated near Ruston and Grambling, Louisiana, home to Louisiana Tech and Grambling State Universities. The mill is located 20 minutes west of Ruston, 45 minutes west of Monroe, 55 minutes east of Shreveport, and an hour south of the Louisiana/Arkansas state line.
In this role, you will work under close guidance with assigned mentors. You will be accountable for growing and strengthening your leadership skills, general business understanding of manufacturing processes, operations of a Wood Products mill, and other major function areas. This role includes a detailed 12-month development plan with hands-on learning, operational rotations, and successful completion of site project(s).
Key Activities:
- Working safely in a manufacturing environment
- Systematically identify and implement improvement initiatives
- Perform mill-wide studies/trials
- Provides support in the development of standard operating procedures
- Troubleshoot and resolve quality and production issues
- Train employees on a structured approach to problem solving
- Maintain calibration of process equipment to assure standards are met
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science or Engineering field or similar required
Drive:
- We are looking for someone who is eager to learn about and master wood products production processes regardless of years of experience.
Core Skills:
- Ability to deliver workable, value-added solutions to solve real manufacturing problems;
- You’re able to communicate issues and results to both technical and non-technical audiences
- You are a collaborative team player.
- You have a high level of initiative and the ability to excel with minimum supervision.
- You can easily adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, ambiguity, adversity and change.
Technical Skills:
- You have a working knowledge of quality control, statistics, and optimization concepts.
Travel:
- You are able and willing to travel within the US.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis
