The WGI team is growing and has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Controls Specialist with transportation sector experience. This role will provide support during project planning, designing, pre-construction, construction, and post-construction phases of the project life-cycle. This is a full-time position with WGI offering robust benefits.
Specific project duties include but not may be limited to the below:
Responsibilities
- Establishes controls and operating policies that identify monitor and mitigate risk.
- Responsible for developing a reporting process to share project information with team members.
- Produce project control documents that clearly reflect the schedule status, cost/budget considerations, changes, risk, and other relevant information.
- Provide guidance to project managers regarding recovery of project milestones incorporating risk avoidance. Development and execution of project-specific plans
- Provide input to strategic decisions affecting areas of responsibility.
- Requires coordination with many disciplines and the ability to resolve issues affecting schedule, budget, and/or production.
- Ensures that all project controls-related documents are appropriately filed, record logs kept up to date, and are made accessible to project teams.
- Assists the manager in tracking and updating the project budget.
- Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
- Ensure that all approved changes are correctly attributed, and incorporated into scope, cost, schedule, and risk baselines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of engineering or construction experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience performing project controls duties.
- Experience with transportation projects is highly desirable.
- Frequent interaction with clerical, technical, professional, and management staff involved in the project(s).
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations, understand contracts, and specifications, organize information, and electronic filing. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
- Good interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with project managers and sub-consultants.
- Must have good analytical ability and technical skills
- Must be articulate, have a clear and analytical approach to problem-solving, and have good decision-making abilities.
- Must have good communication skills.
- General understanding in the areas of Project Management, Design & Construction, Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, and Risk Analysis.
- Must understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.
