What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities/Wellness Coordinator position at Wheatland Village?
The Activities/Wellness Coordinator at Wheatland Village enhances the lives of our residents and staff through creating opportunities that enrich mind, body, and spirit. Responsible for meeting all Generations Vitality program standards. Communicates the Vitality philosophy and the benefits of participating to staff and residents both verbally and by example. Incorporates Generations' Mission, Vision, and Values into daily work and interactions with others.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement evidence-based activity and wellness programs to address the physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual needs of the residents. Includes planning of special events as part of a comprehensive Vitality program for all residents of the community.
- Focus on enhancing the lives of staff members through Vitality moments and activities that include all aspects of wellness.
- Assist the Executive Director in carrying out assigned action plans for the Vitality program. Complete all assigned tasks accurately and on time. Keep the Executive Director well-informed regularly regarding any issues or concerns.
- Participate in the sales process with the Sales and Marketing team through Vitality program outreach and communication with prospective residents and the surrounding community.
- Accountable for organization, inventory, safety, and cleanliness of the Vitality areas, including all equipment and supplies.
- Develop and maintain an ongoing relationship with the residents and staff alike through consistent and authentic communication. Request feedback from residents and staff regarding Vitality programming and utilize information to develop person-centered activities.
- Responsible for assisting the Executive Director in maintaining the monthly Vitality budget which may include reporting, approval process, and decision making. Demonstrate good stewardship in the use of supplies and equipment.
- Manage Vitality staff schedule and ensure staffing for evening and weekend activities.
- Develop and ensure distribution of Vitality calendars, schedules, and newsletters. Coordinate with all staff with clear communication regarding Vitality activities.
- Performs all other duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills Required (Minimum qualifications):
Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in therapeutic recreation, health education, or activity professional program preferred.
- Minimum 1-year related experience in activities and/or wellness with older adults. Must be able to read, write, and follow written and oral directions.
- Current CPR certification, or to be completed within 30 days of hire.
