Position Overview
The department manager will oversee the people and process management involved in the packaging and finishing of beverages in a manufacturing setting and will report to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Manage the finishing department this includes label application, cartoning, tray/case creation, bundling and palletizing.
- The department manager is responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control and safety measures as established and set by the Operations Department
- Enhance the operational procedures, systems, and principles to ensure we are consistently hitting production metrics
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company's policies including interviewing, candidate selection and hiring; training new and existing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; authoring and discussing with employees performance appraisals; addressing employee performance and corrective action plans; employee motivation and rewards
- Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends
- Develop, maintain, implement, enforce and evaluate policies and procedures; develop processes for equipment utilization, inventory management and shipping
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following, improving and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
- Meet or exceed operations labor budget expectations by managing staff levels, wages, hours, and contract labor.
- Attend weekly operations meetings
- Work closely with the inventory manager and team to perform analysis of our finished goods and ensure all products leaving the facility are of a high-quality and are tracked properly
Requirements
- Either Degree in Management/Business or 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing operations setting
- Familiar with a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures
- Extensive experience setting and accomplishing goals
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks and lead and direct the work of others
- Looks for opportunities to improve systems
- Proven decision-making skills that led to improved results
- People Management- experience directly managing operational staff
- Data Entry and data processing skills
- Reporting Skills- Experience submitting weekly production reports and analyzing production metrics on a regular basis
