JOB SUMMARY
The GCBC Golf Professional is responsible for the overall daily operation of the golf shop, outside service, and the practice facility. The Golf Professional is responsible for business operations in maximizing profitability by managing resources to achieve desired objectives. It is imperative that s/he maintains a professional image and appearance that benefits WRC and GCBC Golf. This position will represent GCBC/WRC Golf within the circles of professional golf and the local community. Responsible for insuring that all members and their guests have an exceptional golfing experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure customer satisfaction through prompt, friendly service in a safe, well maintained environment. Demonstrates and promotes professional and attentive guest service at all times.
- Carry out policies and procedures as established along with enforcing the rules and regulations as required by the golf course.
- Responsible for selling and marketing the golf course to increase the number of golf rounds to generate revenue.
- Responsible for developing an annual work plan, budget, generating profit and ensuring accurate financial transactions.
- Supervise staff, including hiring, training, performance coaching, counseling and evaluations, employee motivation and development, and staff scheduling and leave approval for golf course operations, café and related personnel.
- Participation and development of a tribal member workforce.
- Operate and maintain Golf Shop, Practice Range, and Golf Cart Fleet, featuring merchandise and services and ensuring proper maintenance and recordkeeping.
- Responsible for providing qualified golf instructions for junior golf, groups and individuals.
- Communicate and coordinate with the WRC Head Golf Pro for day to day operations of golf facility and programs.
- Coordinates golf operations with other WRC promotions, programs and packages.
- Works closely with Golf Course Superintendent on golf course maintenance, activity schedule and preparation of each season.
- Manage Tee Sheet to maximize revenue. Insure proper registration of all golfers; including starting time, reservations, and traffic control during play including marshaling play to optimize golfer traffic around the golf course.
- Schedule, organize, coordinate and set up tournaments, leagues and special golf events.
- Order merchandise for golf shop and meet with vendors. Prepares and monitors purchasing documents, and coordinates retail operations of Golf Shop with finance.
- Responsible for inventory controls in the Pro Shop and monitor of merchandise levels and sales.
- Communicates with Golf Shop staff on all golf promotions, tours and special events.
- Recruit, hire, train, motivate and supervise all golf department staff, maintain accurate payroll records, and ensure evaluations are completed and recorded for applicable staff.
- Flexible to open and close Golf Shop, early and late shift work, weekends, holidays, varied and long hours during prime golf season.
- Keep the Golf Shop neat and clean, inside and outside.
- Be active in Chapter, Section and National PGA activities. Develop PGA Apprentices and encourage their growth through the GPTP (Golf Professional Training Program).
- Maintain playing skills at a level that promotes personal pride as well as proper recognition from WRC management and members of the PGA.
- Maintain operational knowledge of the POS and computer programs/systems used.
- Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Class "A" PGA professional in good standing.
- Seven (7) years’ experience as Golf Professional at either public, private or resort golf course. Has organizational and management skills to oversee and train staff.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the golf business related to financial statements and key indicators.
- Sound judgment and decision-making ability are mandatory, along with the ability to foresee problem areas and recommend or implement immediate action to minimize adverse effects.
- Demonstrate the ability to deal effectively and objectively with subordinates, supervisor and management personnel.
- Demonstrates skill in human and public relations. Must be skillful and tactful in dealing with customers in order to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Has a reputation as a fine teacher and accomplished player along with professional appearance.
- Must practice and support "TEAM PLAYER" management philosophy.
- Must pass a criminal and financial background check.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree from a four-year college or university.
