Sterilization Technician - Orthodontic
WILSON ORTHODONTICS is seeking a Sterilization Tech / Infection Control Coordinator for our growing practice locations in SHERWOOD AND NEWBERG!
This entry level role provides an excellent opportunity to break into a career in dentistry or healthcare. Dental experience is preferred, and xray certification earns higher compensation.
Primary job responsibilities:
- Clean and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
- Turn over chairs after each patient by cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces
- Maintain order and cleanliness in the dental lab and in the sterilization area
- Restock and maintain an inventory of dental supplies and instruments to assure a constant level is always available
- Comply with and share in the implementation of all safety, sterilization and infection control requirements, including OSHA
- Maintain stock of supplies needed to sterilize equipment and instruments
- Reset instrument setups according to procedure
- Communicate instrument repair needs to supervisor
- Ensure instruments/equipment is stored in the proper location.
- Perform weekly spore testing and maintain a log of the results
- Perform weekly and monthly maintenance of dental and sterilization equipment per manufacturers’ recommendations
- Properly dispose of all biohazards material
As your skills grow and you become more efficient, you’ll have opportunities to learn other tasks such as lab work, facilities maintenance, Invisalign case check-in, basic dental assisting and charting, some front office work such as phone calls and scanning documents, marketing activities, and more.
Compensation:
COMPETITIVE WAGE $17.00 per hour depending on experience in the industry.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Excellent customer/patient service and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand information and follow instructions for the proper handling of tools, instruments, and supplies
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to work in fast-paced, patient-focused environment
- MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED AGAINST COVID-19 or have a valid exemption
