Gas Technician

A Gas Technician's hourly rate ranges from $25.98 up to $33.68 dependent on experience. This position will be located at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, MO. Gas Technician Essential Functions*:

• Performs preventative maintenance, testing, and repairs to gas controls, natural gas, LP gas, and fuel oil systems.
• Tests and adjusts gas and oil safety devices and regulators.
• Performs leak tests on piping and equipment.
• Observe and read instruments, gauges, dials, etc. to determine operating conditions.
• Read and interpret detailed prints, sketches, schematics, layouts, specifications, etc.
• Identify and list production data such as quantities, pressures, alloy and operating conditions.
• Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and safe condition.
• Obeys all safety rules and regulations and wears proper safety equipment.

Gas Technician Position Requirements*:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of recent work experience as a gas technician in an industrial setting. Formal Combustion control training is preferred and may be substituted for a portion of the work experience.
• Must be able to successfully complete specific environmental training and testing.
• Must be able to demonstrate ability to read and interpret complex drawings, schematics, and operational or user manuals.
• Must have basic understanding and be able to use the National Electric Code.
• Must be proficient in the use of standard shop test equipment and be capable of learning specialized test equipment.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license.
• Must have knowledge of motors and motor controllers.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 75 pounds.
• Potential exposure to: Mechanical and chemical hazards, moving objects, heights, and cramped quarter working spaces.
• Ability and willingness to work any shift, including overtime.
• This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls if required.
• This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive.
• This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies.
