What are the responsibilities and job description for the MDS Coordinator position at Windsor Houston?
The Medicare Coordinator will be responsible for complying with federal and state regulations regarding completion of the RAI process and the PPS schedule.

Qualifications
Must possess a current Texas RN or Texas LVN license and obtain RUG certification through Texas State University.
Policies
The Medicare Coordinator will be familiar with the Policies and Procedures of the facility and regulatory and reimbursement requirements for Long Term Care Facilities in the State of Texas. The Medicare Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
List of Primary Job Duties
1. Comply with PPS federal regulations for assessment completion and reimbursement.
2. Comply with federal and state regulations regarding completion and coordination of the RAI process.
3. Comply with Managed Care companies’ policies on certification and reimbursement.
4. Work in collaboration with the IDT to establish and maintain a comprehensive care plan.
5. Complete Medicare and Managed Care billing sheets timely as outlined by the corporate office.
List of Additional Job Duties
6. Participate in QA meetings whose main focus is utilization review.
7. Participate in the pre-admission process to ensure all technical and clinical requirements for Medicare SNF coverage is obtained from the referral source.
8. Ensure documentation is present in the medical record to support MDS coding.
9. Maintain reimbursement soft files.
10. Complete and maintain copies of paperwork and certifications required for Medicare reimbursement.
11. Provide education to the floor staff on documentation requirements.
12. Assist in the preparation and timely submission of any Additional Development Requests (ADRs) or other state/federal audits that may occur as directed by the corporate office staff.
13. Provide required documentation and interact with surveyors during surveys.
14. Participate in the daily start-up.
15. Participate in the nurse management on-call rotation.
16. May be required to perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Administrator of Director of Nursing in accordance to their qualifications and training.
