As a Shop Foreman, you will lead a team of technicians, manage workflow, ensure quality standards are met, and maintain a safe and efficient working environment. Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality workmanship and efficient operations.
- Oversee the scheduling and assignment of work orders, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and adherence to production timelines.
- Monitor and track work progress, identifying and resolving any bottlenecks or issues that may impact productivity or quality.
- Collaborate with the manager to establish production targets, prioritize work orders, and implement process improvements for enhanced efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety awareness among shop personnel.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure they are in good working condition, properly maintained, and serviced as required.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or breakdowns, coordinating repairs and maintenance activities with the maintenance team as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of job orders, work progress, and inventory levels, utilizing appropriate systems or software.
- Provide technical expertise and assistance to technicians, offering guidance in complex repairs, diagnostics, or problem-solving.
- Foster a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork, collaboration, and professional development among shop personnel.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices to streamline shop operations and ensure consistent quality output.
- Coordinate with procurement and inventory management to ensure adequate stock levels of parts, materials, and supplies are maintained.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred).
- Proven experience as a Shop Foreman or similar supervisory role in an, automotive, or related industry.
- Strong technical knowledge and expertise in shop operations, equipment, machinery, and repair processes.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire shop personnel.
- Solid understanding of safety regulations and protocols related to shop environments.
- Proficient in using shop management systems, inventory software, and other relevant tools.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills to effectively manage workflow and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with shop personnel, management, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
The posted salary or pay compensation ranges are approximate and dependent on applicable experience and qualifications. Upper ranges are flexible.
