As an Accountant Advanced for WisDOT, this position manages and monitors financial activity for the Division of Transportation Investment Management (DTIM). Specific responsibilities include reviewing and approving project funding rules, researching, compiling, and preparing financial reports, and overseeing and managing DTIM grants. This position works closely with auditors from the Legislative Audit Bureau (LAB) to review financial entries, provide information, and explain financial methodology and business processes. This position is responsible for monitoring the Project Costing module to ensure all project expenditure and revenue data posts into the General Ledger correctly. Skillset and knowledge of GAAP accounting, Query Manager, and advanced Excel/Access are essential skills in this position. The position collaborates with Management Accountants in the Bureau of Financial Management, Budget Analysts within the Bureau of Budget, as well as DTIM Administrative Staff.
This position is in schedule-range (07-02) with an annual salary of $74,880 - $95,680 (or $36 - $46 per hour), plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

- Candidates must have either a 4 year or master’s degree in accounting, finance or auditing or commensurate professional experience.
- Experience preparing or reviewing GAAP-based financial statements.
- Progressively responsible (i.e., an increase in level of responsibility/difficulty over time) financial accounting experience including accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience performing accounting or auditing functions for a government, public, or non-profit entity.
- Experience reviewing and applying Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards.
- Experience managing, maintaining and/or generating reports of financial information in an ERP accounting/financial system (such as Oracle Peoplesoft) and its subsystems.
- Experience working with Federal grants
- Possession of a CPA licensure
