What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tuning Shop Technician position at Wisp Resort?

- Full-time & Part-time Seasonal positions available - negotiable based on experience.
Position Summary:
Based on the season, maintains snow related rental equipment, i.e. skis, snowboards and Nordic skis, or mountain bike related equipment. Assists guests by safely selecting, fitting and issuing boots, bibs, skis, snowboards and poles, and adjusting the boot binding system, or mountain bikes and related gear, according to manufacturer’s specifications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Wisp Resort is a four-season ski, golf and recreational destination resort. Because of the nature of the resort business, employees may be asked to perform other duties outside of the job description. Also, hours of operation are 24/7 including weekends and holidays.
Position level will be determined based upon experience.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities: Level 1 (Technician) – NE01
- Ability to fit ski and snowboard boots, or mountain bikes and related equipment.
- Provides guests information on rental equipment use and safety.
- Maintains inventory of ski/snowboard tuning related supplies, or mountain bike related supplies, and orders new supplies as needed.
- Assists in selling ski/snowboard, or mountain bike related tuning services.
- Attends scheduled training sessions, maintains a clean work environment and performs online training and certifications for ski/snowboard brands, or mountain bikes, which are sold within Wisp Resort retail operations.
- Exhibits knowledge of skis/snowboards including but not limited to cross country, Telemark and downhill and knowledge of snowshoes, Nordic skis, or mountain bikes, and other related equipment.
- Exhibits knowledge of Wisp Resort and trail network, and stays current on the latest changes and developments in skiing and snowboarding, or mountain biking.
- Exhibits ability to be guest service oriented and to communicate well and confidently with the public.
- Exhibits ability to understand basic verbal and written instructions, learn basic procedures and techniques and perform repetitive routine tasks, and function on the job with limited supervision.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities: Level 2 (Technician) – NE02
- All duties of a Level 1 Rental Shop Technician.
- Ability to properly adjust ski and snowboard bindings, or tune mountain bikes, and has certification from manufacturer.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities: Level 3 (Technician) – NE03
- All duties of a Level 1 and a Level 2 Rental Shop Technician.
- Fully trained and capable of operating tuning equipment.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities: Level 4 (Supervisor) – NE04
- All duties of a Level 1, 2 and 3 Rental Shop Technician.
- Exhibits strong hands-on skills, communication skills with a guest-centric focus.
- Understanding of rental equipment inventory management.
- Acts as Manager on Duty when upper management is not available.
- Enforces policies and procedures.
- Monitors rental shop supplies.
- Assists Rental Shop Manager in training employees.
- Updates training manuals as needed, and reviews training agendas with Rental Shop Manager.

Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent, unless company sees capability without minimum education requirement
- Previous ski/snowboard/mountain bike repair and tuning experience required
- Level 4 (Supervisor), previous supervisory experience preferred
Language Skills:
- Basic English
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Mathematical Skills:
- Basic math
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Manufacturer Certification(s) – starting at Level 2
